You can barely complain about living in beautiful, sunshiny Beverly Hills - Los Angeles. Bursting with stunning silhouettes of trend setters and made for TV bodies, it's not out of the ordinary to feel young and exuberant. Naturally, you want to fully embody looking youthful and happy. As the old saying goes, "your eyes are the window to your soul". That being said, the expression your eyes portray to the world is key in showing what you are truly feeling, and it's normal to want the windows to your soul to show the proper emotion. However, living in all the warmth and sun can be harmful, and can damage delicate skin surrounding the eyes; causing slouchy eyes, puffiness, and wrinkles or creases. Drooping, wrinkles and fine lines are also associated with aging and genetic predisposition can leave you looking tired or miserable. Fortunately, there is a fairly simple procedure known as blepharoplasty (commonly called an eyelid lift) that leaves you looking years younger and rejuvenated!
Getting an upper eyelid lift repairs sagging eyelids with excess skin and bags; while lower eyelid lifts remove puffiness brought on by fat deposits, beneath the eyes. Many patients decide to have both upper and lower eyelid lifts to achieve a completely refreshed and brighter look. Eyelid lifts are not done to correct "crow's feet" or dark circles under eyes. Eyelid lifts are usually done in combination with other facial procedures such as facelift and forehead/brow lift.

Expecting realistic results and being in general good health is a must with all surgeries. If you are happy with your overall appearance, and just want a little tweaking to change your expression from tired or old to recharged and young, than an eyelid lift may be right for you. Some patients need the procedure to correct visual impairment. Because there are different factors behind every person's decision to get the procedure, it's a good idea to schedule a consultation with Dr. Saadat to go over specific recommendations.
The eyelid lift procedure is comparatively simple to other surgeries and only takes an hour or two to perform, depending on how elaborate your procedure.
Like many other surgical procedures, depending on the severity of heaviness on your eyelid, and the amount of excess fat above and below the eye, your face and eyes could be completely transformed, with a natural and revitalized appearance. In most cases the procedure is permanent.
Antibiotics may be prescribed and continued for several days after surgery as a precaution. Pain afterwards is usually minimal and can be calmed with over-the-counter pain medications. You should also keep your head elevated.
The recovery process is typically fast, and most patients return to their normal activities within a week or two. Sutures are taken out within a week of surgery. Swelling and bruising in the first couple days is normal, and can be managed with a cold compress. In some cases, eye exercises are recommended to restore full mobility.
You will be back to "normal" within four to eight days and may start wearing make-up again after ten to fourteen days, but the eye area must be cleaned thoroughly after each wearing. Dr. Saadat will let you know when you can resume normal activities, like work and exercise, as this all depends on complexity of the procedure and your healing progress.
Minor side effects of getting an eyelid lift include extremely dry eyes, which is treated with the use of medication. Other side effects that may develop are sensitivity to bright light and wind, and is remedied by wearing sunglasses. Numbness and itching can also transpire during the healing process
