How is a Chin / Cheek Augmentation Performed?
Getting the implants is a relatively simple procedure and can be performed using either general anesthesia or local anesthesia. Which anesthesia depends on what the patient prefers and what Dr. Saadat believes is best for your specific case.
- Small incisions are made on the inside of the mouth, in the creases of the upper lip, or below the eye for cheek implants. An incision is made under the chin or inside the mouth for chin implants.
- An implant specially fit for your face is inserted over the specific bone and then secured.
- The incision is closed up. After a chin procedure, the chin is taped to lessen swelling and soreness.

Recovering From Your Facial Implant Surgery
Sutures will dissolve or be removed within five to ten days. Patients can usually return to work within two days; however, the implants may cause tightness that makes it hard to move your mouth, and can be expected to last for a couple days. It's normal for the implant to "settle in" during the months after surgery, and you may notice some slight change.
